FAIRS

SAINT ERMETE’S FAIR

This annual fair, with its traditional and ethnic market stalls, is held in the streets and squares of the center on occasion of the celebrations in honor of Forte’s patron saint on 28 August. The festivities begin on 26 August with a procession: historical figures accompany the relics of the saint from Palazzo Comunale to his church. On the 27th, the enormous bonfire called the Focata is lit in Piazza Garibaldi in his honor. And the celebrations continue the next day, with the fair and market and, to close, a thrilling fireworks display on the Pontile, visible from the beach. The celebrations in honor of Forte’s patron recall many local traditions and are a sterling occasion for residents and tourists to meet, enjoy a pleasant stroll, and savor the hospitable atmosphere that imbues the streets of Forte.

SAINT FRANCESCO’S FAIR

Vittoria Apuana’s annual fair in honor of Saint Francis is held on the first Sunday following the saint’s day (4 October). For the celebration, market stalls offering typical goods, sweets, and excellences of local gastronomy are aligned from the church titled to the saint all along the main street and in the small center of the locality.
