In 1929, Achille Franceschi had the revolutionary idea to transform an old beach hut that was used as a carpenter's workshop into a bar where drinks could be served and music could be played on a gramophone. It was an instant success. Since the 1930s, visiting La Capannina has been one of the most enjoyable experiences in Forte dei Marmi. Notable figures such as Rèpaci, Ungaretti, Montale, Levi, and Pea became regular customers of the bar. After a fire in 1939, La Capannina was rebuilt and has not undergone any significant changes since. It has always been a meeting place for industrialists, movie stars, sports stars, and the international jet set, as well as young and older vacationers in search of good music. From 1977 to 2025, the Guidi family ran the club.
