Al mercato del mercoledì in piazza Marconi

Forte’s Market

Italy’s most exclusive open-air boutiques

Widely regarded as Italy’s most beautiful market, the Forte dei Marmi Market has been a must-visit destination for decades, drawing shoppers from Central and Northern Italy. Founded over fifty years ago, it was conceived in deliberate contrast to traditional street markets. In Forte’s piazza, there are no discount bargains; instead, it offers a fun, informal shopping experience for ready-to-wear fashion. The market features a diverse selection of products, including clothing and home décor, all showcasing a strong focus on craftsmanship and quality materials.

The product categories are extremely diverse. Fashion naturally takes center stage: women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, leather goods, furs, cashmere, footwear from renowned brands, and beachwear. Alongside fashion, visitors will find home linens and décor, ceramics, jewelry, and a selection of local gourmet specialties.

Where and when

Forte’s Market takes place every Wednesday year-round, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During the warmer months, the experience doubles: every Sunday from Easter through late October.

The setting is always the same and unmistakable: Piazza Marconi, the iconic circular square framed by pine trees, where stalls form a ring around the piazza.

The Wednesday market is the most famous of all, held in every season within the famous circular square of Piazza Marconi and its surrounding pine grove, right in the heart of town. Admired and frequented by thousands of visitors from across Italy each year, it has become a true Forte dei Marmi ritual. Dozens upon dozens of colorful stalls showcase ever-changing selections of elegant pieces, handcrafted objects, refined curiosities, designer items at favorable prices, and exclusive capsule collections available only here – and only in Forte dei Marmi.

Other markets

Piazza Marconi’s celebrated market is not the only one. During the summer months, a lively weekly market also takes place every Friday in Vittoria Apuana. Particularly beloved by collectors and aficionados is the Antiques Market, held once a month in the gardens of Piazza Dante. Rounding out the market scene are the Wednesday food market in the town center and the Sunday farmers’ market, held in different neighborhoods throughout the year. Below the photo is a complete overview of all locations, dates, and opening hours.
