FORTINO LEOPOLDO I
Fortino Leopoldo I
A distinguished venue for exhibitions
An enduring symbol of Forte dei Marmi, the Fortino was originally built as a military outpost equipped with cannons to protect the coastline and the loading point for the prized marble blocks quarried in the Apuan Alps.
Once standing in isolation facing the sea, this refined, compact fortress has been embraced by the town’s urban fabric over the centuries. Today, it forms the very heart of Forte dei Marmi, where the area’s most elegant streets converge.
Following significant restoration, the Fortino has been transformed into a first-class exhibition space, hosting art exhibitions and cultural programs throughout the year.
