Vittoria Apuana honors Saint Francis

The beauty of a heartfelt and authentic celebration
Each year, on the Sunday following October 4th, the day the Catholic Church dedicates to Saint Francis of Assisi, the community of Vittoria Apuana comes together for one of its most meaningful spiritual celebrations. Saint Francis is the patron saint of this populous district of Forte dei Marmi, and the beautiful local church bears his name in tribute.
Alongside the religious observance, beginning with the solemn morning Mass, the day unfolds as a warm, community-centered celebration especially loved by families. The traditional street fair lines Via Padre Ignazio da Carrara with stalls; children take part in a school drawing competition; face painting adds to the fun; music fills the air with performances by the town band; and the evening concludes with a concert held inside the Church of San Francesco, during which, on October 6, 2024, the Villa Bertelli Award was presented to Andrea Bocelli.
It is a full day of celebration and gathering, fun and reflection, art and dialogue, an occasion the people of Vittoria Apuana continue to experience with passion and great enthusiasm.
