Discovering sailing in Forte dei Marmi
Behind an object as ancient as the sailing boat lies an entire universe – one that speaks of respect for the sea, for the environment, and for nature, as well as passion, challenge, and deep satisfaction. The sailboat was the first vessel that allowed humankind to venture out and confront the sea, and it remains today the most iconic and authentic way to navigate.
Forte dei Marmi is home to three sailing centers, each offering programs tailored to different ages and skill levels: from sailing courses for children and teenagers to adult programs designed for everyone from complete beginners to those training for competitive regattas. These centers also organize races and events, helping to keep alive what is, in every sense, a true culture of the sea.
The bond between Forte and sailing runs deep. One example is Compagnia della Vela, founded in 1922 and awarded the Stella d’Oro al Merito Sportivo for its contribution to sport. In 2018, the Compagnia joined forces with the Yachting Club Forte dei Marmi to establish the “Trofeo Velico Forte dei Marmi”, further strengthening the town’s presence on the sailing scene.
