September: Music, Culture, Theater, and Satire in the Shadow of the Fortino

From 13 to 20 September, the centre of Forte dei Marmi will come alive with eight days of events featuring music, literature, theatre, culture and satire, as the town celebrates the end of the summer season with the “Settembre all’ombra del Fortino” festival.

Events will take place in Piazza Garibaldi from 6:00 p.m., except on Wednesday 16 September when “Ciao Estate” will take place on the pier from 7:00 p.m.

The festival will open on Sunday, September 13 with a concert by the Stefano Zavattoni Octet, featuring “Nel Vecchio Stile Live”, a musical journey through the golden age of swing, featuring some of the genre's greatest classics.

On Monday 14 September, the focus will be on one of Forte dei Marmi’s most iconic landmarks with “La Capannina in the Future of Forte dei Marmi”, a discussion with Michele Tacchella on the history and future of the historic venue.

On Tuesday 15 September, the focus will be on the local identity and ingenuity with “Creativity in Forte dei Marmi”: Fabio Genovesi and Michele Pellegrini will discuss the culture and creativity associated with Forte dei Marmi, moderated by Carlo Fontana.

On Wednesday 16 September, the festival moves to the pier for “Ciao Estate”, the traditional farewell to the summer season. This event is scheduled for 7:00 pm, but will be rescheduled to Wednesday 23 September in case of inclement weather.

On Thursday 17 September, the event will return to Piazza Garibaldi with Elisabetta Salvatori and “Scolpiti nella Memoria” (Carved in Memory: Stories of Forte dei Marmi Through Its Cemetery), a theatrical performance tracing the stories, characters, and collective memory of the Forte dei Marmi community.

On Friday 18 September, Marco Malvaldi and Samantha Bruzzone will take centre stage with “La scala di seta e il giallo cozy contemporaneo” (The Silk Staircase and the Contemporary Cozy Mystery). The two writers will discuss crime fiction and its contemporary developments with Beppe Cottafavi.

Saturday, September 19, will feature one of the most anticipated events: the closing ceremony of the 54th Forte dei Marmi Political Satire Award, a historic award dedicated to the finest expressions of satire, journalism, and humor.

Closing out “September in the Shadow of the Fortino” on Sunday, September 20, will be Gianni Fantoni with “Fantozzi Against Everyone – From Fantozzi,” a show dedicated to the unforgettable character created by Paolo Villaggio, blending comedy, nostalgia, and irony.

All events are free to attend, with no reservation required, subject to availability.
