It’s time to pick the olives in the countryside around Forte. Armed with long poles or rakes, families and farmers are busy harvesting by classic methods: abbacchiatura (beating) or pettinatura (combing), coaxing the precious fruits off the branches and into nets spread out beneath.
And then it’s straight off to the mill – where the magic happens!
