Forte dei Marmi welcomes world-class polo

March 6 2026

Forte dei Marmi will be the setting for the “Figli del Vento Polo Cup 2026”, taking place on the beach of Bagno Alpemare from March 13 to 15, an international tournament promoted by the Polo Club Forte dei Marmi under the patronage of the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation.

The event will bring to the town a competition with wide media appeal, expected to attract a distinguished audience from across Europe and beyond. Sport and elegance unite in an occasion that ushers in the spring season and marks the beginning of the season’s major events.

“Forte dei Marmi – says Mayor Bruno Murzi, “is proud to host and support this initiative, which combines international-level sport with the promotion of our territory. It is an event that enriches the town’s cultural and sporting program while helping maintain strong attention on our destination, known for its distinctive combination of quality and elegance in a unique setting.”

Four teams will compete for the trophy, composed of players from some of the most exclusive polo clubs worldwide, with athletes representing several nationalities – from Argentina and Switzerland to Italy and India.

The official opening is scheduled for Friday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m., when Andrea and Veronica Bocelli, together with Susanna Larini, president of the Polo Club Forte dei Marmi, will inaugurate the tournament by entering the field on horseback.

Admission to the matches will be free, allowing residents and visitors to experience up close a sport with a long and prestigious international tradition. Surrounding the field, a carefully curated hospitality area will offer dining options and informal spaces for spectators. Special focus will be on environmental sustainability: the event will be entirely plastic-free, and the field will be prepared using seawater instead of potable water.

The tournament will also provide an opportunity for adults and young people to discover the equestrian world firsthand. On the morning of Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, starting at 10:00 a.m., introductory horseback sessions will take place on the playing field with a qualified instructor, open to the public and designed to offer a guided first approach to the sport of polo.
