Countdown to “Save a Life” 2026
On Tuesday, July 7, at 10:00 am, the western side of the Forte dei Marmi Pontile, opposite Bagno Carducci, will once again become the stage for a challenge among Versilia’s lifeguards with the 2026 edition of “Save a Life”, the timed race that has been one of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer since 2017.
Twelve crews will compete on the same municipal pattino (pedalo with oars), identical for all participants, along a course designed to test strength, technique, and precision, with the goal of improving the benchmark time set last year by Bagno La Perla. Short in duration but intense and highly meaningful, the competition captures in just a few minutes the daily work of those who ensure safety at sea.
The participants are not only athletes: lifeguards are a constant and reassuring presence along the coast, a point of reference for residents and beachgoers alike. From morning to evening, they watch, prevent, and intervene, protecting those who experience the beach with readiness and sound judgment. “Save a Life” highlights this aspect to the public: not only sporting performance, but also vigilance, speed of action, and responsibility.
Spectators will be able to watch the race both from the Pier, a natural vantage point overlooking the course, and directly from the shoreline.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the Pier at around 12:00 pm.
In the event of adverse weather or sea conditions, the race will be postponed to the first available date.
The event is supported and sponsored by the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi and organized by the Union of Beach Club Owners.
