Winners announced for the 54th Forte dei Marmi Political Satire Award

September 7 2026

The Forte dei Marmi International Political Satire Award returns on Saturday, September 19, for its 54th edition. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm in Piazza Garibaldi, in the heart of Forte dei Marmi, and will be hosted by Federico Basso.

Under the direction of Beppe Cottafavi, joined on the jury by Stefano Andreoli, Giulio D’Antona and Fabio Genovesi, the Award will present its Lifetime Achievement Award to Antonio Albanese, in recognition of his outstanding career as a comedian, actor, director and writer. Leo Ortolani, whose Rat-Man has left an unmistakable mark on the history of Italian comics, will receive the award for comics. The award for parody will go to Giulia Vecchio, whose talent and irony bring contemporary personalities and their distinctive styles vividly to life.

After previous editions held at the Capannina, this year the Award moves to Piazza Garibaldi. The setting is particularly significant, between the Fortino and the Quarto Platano, a symbolic location in the town’s extraordinary cultural history. Beginning in the 1920s, painters, sculptors, writers, poets, architects and intellectuals would gather around the tables of Caffè Roma, making the square a lively hub for the arts and culture.

“The Satire Award is part of Forte dei Marmi’s cultural history, and this wonderful setting evokes the historical importance of a square that has welcomed some of the greatest artists of the 20th century,” says Mayor Bruno Murzi. “I hope we can continue to interpret the present with freedom, intelligence and irony, as the history of this Award has taught us.”

Over more than half a century, the Political Satire Award has celebrated the satirical work of Italian and international writers, journalists, cartoonists, actors, directors and comedians. Its long and prestigious roll of honor also includes masters of cartooning and comics, as well as publications that have shaped the history of satire in Italy and around the world.
