Forte Flies the Yellow Flag

July 17 2026

Forte dei Marmi continues to stand out as one of Italy’s leading destinations for sustainable mobility. For 2026, the town has once again been awarded the Yellow Flag for Bike-Friendly Municipalities, the recognition presented by FIAB – the Italian Federation for the Environment and Cycling to municipalities committed to promoting cycling, road safety, and quality of life.

This year’s award marks the seventh consecutive recognition for Forte dei Marmi, which has received the distinction every year since 2020. It reflects the municipality’s enduring commitment to promoting cycling as an everyday means of transport, supported by an extensive cycle network and a culture of sustainability that has long been one of the town’s defining characteristics.

“The confirmation of the FIAB Yellow Flag is an important recognition of the work carried out by the Municipal Administration over the years,” said Deputy Mayor Andrea Mazzoni and Councilor Alberto Mattugini in a joint statement. “Forte dei Marmi has made sustainable mobility one of the defining features of its identity, investing in the quality of public spaces and promoting the bicycle as a practical means of everyday transport.”

The renewed award provides further encouragement to continue along this path, strengthening a model of mobility that combines environmental protection, people’s well-being and the enhancement of the local area.
