I grandi artisti che hanno amato Forte dei Marmi
Well-known presence

Tribute to the artists who lived in Forte dei Marmi

Henry Moore, the prominent British sculptor, and painter, considered amongst the most notable artists of the twentieth century, purchased a cottage in Vittoria Apuana in the second half of last century, in which to spend summers with his wife and daughter, thus alternating work activities at his studio and quarries and intimate and family moments on the coastline surrounded by friends and intellectuals.

His talent, the fondness nurtured for Forte, his commitment to protecting children’s rights and supporting the activities of the International Children’s Art Center, eventually led him to be appointed an honorary citizen in 1980, a designation that Moore himself profoundly treasured and that strengthened his bond with the cherished Versilia.

Luckily, today we continue to sense the presence of this outstanding artist and all the distinguished personalities who have left their mark here, contributing to Forte dei Marmi’s history and culture. An authentic story worth discovering!
