Book presentation: “The May Queen”

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy presents his latest book, a tribute to his grandmother, Maria José. Joining him in conversation will be journalist Francesca Navari.

Published by Sperling&Kupfer, the book offers an intimate portrait of Maria José of Belgium, the last Queen of Italy. Drawing on memories, anecdotes, and personal conversations shared with Emanuele Filiberto himself during walks together at Merlinge Castle in Switzerland, the volume explores Maria José’s outspoken opposition to the Fascist regime and the historical events that ultimately led to the end of the Italian monarchy.
