Exploring the area by bike

Three bike itineraries just a pedal away from Forte dei Marmi, designed to discover both coastal Versilia and its inland landscapes at a slower pace, with wind in your hair and beauty all around.

FROM FORTE DEI MARMI TO MARINA DI TORRE DEL LAGO AND BACK

A completely flat route of approximately 44 km (27 miles), easily manageable even on a city bike and suitable for children as well. This is the ideal itinerary for discovering coastal Versilia, made especially enjoyable by the seaside bike path that runs south from Viareggio and extends north to Marina di Massa.

The route presents no technical difficulties. The only recommendation is to avoid riding during the hottest hours of summer, as it is almost entirely exposed to the sun. Along the way, cyclists pass through all of Versilia’s seaside towns and can easily leave the main path to explore individual communities and their historic centers at leisure.

FORTE DEI MARMI - SERAVEZZA - PRUNO AND BACK

A moderately challenging route of about 30 km (19 miles), suitable for road bikes or e-bikes. This wonderful itinerary winds through villages and nature, following the valley where the Versilia River is born at the confluence of mountain streams descending from the southern Apuan Alps.

After an initial flat stretch leading to Ripa di Seravezza, the ride begins a gentle ascent toward Seravezza, a picturesque town brimming with history. Leaving Seravezza behind, with the magnificent Palazzo Mediceo unfolding on the right, the route continues toward Cardoso. From there, the climb becomes more demanding, but the effort is richly rewarded by stunning views over the valley once you reach the village of Pruno.

FORTE DEI MARMI - MONTE FOLGORITO - PASQUILIO AND BACK

A challenging route of approximately 30 km (19 miles), best tackled with a mountain bike or e-bike.

From Forte, the ride heads toward Strettoia, where the ascent begins toward Metati Rossi, the starting point of the mountain section. The route follows the ridgeline separating the provinces of Lucca and Massa-Carrara, offering breathtaking views over the sea and the entire Apuan Alps range.

A tip worth following: the summit of Mount Folgorito cannot be reached by bike. We recommend leaving your bike for a few minutes and walking to the top to enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panorama over all of Versilia. Back on the bike, the route continues toward Pasquilio, followed by the descent for the return journey.

This itinerary requires good physical conditioning or an e-bike, but it delivers an unforgettable immersion into the wild landscapes of the Apuan Alps, an experience sure to surprise.
